Modi has done an exemplary work by cracking down on Mauritius and tweaking the Double Tax treaty that we had with them. Isn't it ironical that this petite island country was the biggest FDI source in India( beating US, UK and other countries hands down). It was simple, take the looted black money out of India and then reroute it through Mauritius and invest it into India as FDI and make it white money. And on top of that, don't even pay the government any money as taxes. It was simply loot-loot-loot and more loot. The congress had refused to bring in financial reforms like complete account convertibility which scared many genuine investors from participating in India's growth story.
Through his trysts and travels across the continents, Mr. Modi has sold the India growth story. Now genuine and entrepreneurs and businessmen and investors will invest in India.
Thank you Mr. Modi for cleaning up. I am just worried that half bred mentals, who unfortunately are in the majority in this country, will not be able to understand the subtle but solid reforms that you are bringing in this country

I am quite bemused and amused by Donald Trump. I think he is going to be the greatest character in the American political history. People have called him by many different definitions and I guess no other presidential candidate would have achieved such fame(good or bad is subjective) even before the elections took place. If Repblicans are guilty of seeing a president in Trump, then how come Democrats are okay with Hillary? I guess her finest qualification is that of being a wife to the ex president.
Trump's speeches are full of pun and humour and often times his words are maligning a particular community, person etc. But given the fact to what is happening lately, the shooters within the American territory, the global expansion of ISIS etc., would people ignore the words of Trump who seems to be too direct and blasphemous in his approach. I think if Obama had taken more courageous steps during his tenure, things could be different. Anyways, there was another fool before Obama, his name was Bush. But Bush managed to pump up the American economy to great heights and delivered on a global level. Could a buffoon like Trump be the right cure to an ailing America?
I might not be in the right position to comment on the American elections, for I belong to a country where the political scenario is worse than anything else. But then, we are a third world nation and we've always looked upto America. If we managed to elect Mr. Modi after being corrupt to our soul, I guess there is hope for America and the future captain America.

We sit in our comfortable homes and get all intellectual about what is happening in Kashmir. The moment a bomb explodes in our hometown's market or any other place of importance, we panic and start cursing the government for not doing anything.
Friends, have you ever realized how difficult it for the Indian Armed Forces to protect our borders as well as fight with the enemies within the border. I have many friends in the army. One of them guarded the borders 80km from town of Drass where even helicopters cannot reach. I went to Drass in the month of June and it was so bloody cold that my fingers almost fell off. Add another 8000-10000 feet to Drass and you reach the high points where are soldiers are posted. To know about the hardships that our soldiers face and to actually realize that and feel it are two different things.
I urge you! My friends! I urge you to speak up. I urge you to break your silence and support our soldiers in this time of need. I urge you to attack those who pass on derogatory messages against our soldiers. I urge you to speak for our country, our motherland, India.
The pluralism in India is its beauty. But if that is misused to tarnish the sacrifices made by our patriots who don't even ask anything in return cannot be justified. For a few TRPs, for a misguided truth, for the want of money, many Indian media houses and individuals have started tarnishing the image of our soldiers and have even resorted to spreading false propaganda.
Let us stand with our soldiers in Kashmir. Remember they sacrifice a lot so that we can sleep in peace. I wonder if a soldier is allowed to live a civilian life for 5 years before returning to his post, I am sure he would either leave his job or give two hoots about saving we double standard Indians.
The meager salary that they receive is not enough for the service they provide. Thus, don't pass on the judgement that it is their job to protect us. They do it out of passion, out of love for their motherland, out of love for their fellow citizens. I know they are fools. Fools for saving we hypocrites who can't even praise them in the time of their need, who can't even stand in solidarity with them, who can't even shed a tear when they die and instead get busy watching cricket matches.
Speak up in this time of need. Stand in solidarity with our soldiers posted in Jammu and Kashmir; for now, they are not only fighting the enemy across the border, but also a growing breed of white collar ones within the country.
Let us speak up. Let us speak up my dear friends. Let us speak. Aah! The least we can do is speak for them.

There is an economic side to all this kashmir valley protest and all. There are primarily seven sections in Kashmir's social structure. There are sunni, shiya, bakarwaal, gujjar, gadriya, sikh and some kashmiri pandit.Only sunnis who are rich and have a lot of land holdings create all the tension and all this pakistan hoopla while other groups are very very much inclined towards India.
Now whenever Abdullah family is out of power, protests against the Indian govt. starts in the family. And let me tell you, Omar is a sunni scion.
So why have protests intensified in the recent past? The answer is the election of Narendra Modi and the BJP. BJP is adamant towards removing article 370 from the state as it promotes social inequality and creates more or less an ossified social and economic structure in the state. Article 370 is adamant towards forbidding investment in the state from out of state player as it does not let them have land ownership. Which investor would invest in the state without any ownership entitlement.
So you, see. These protests will go on. It will destabilize the Mufti and BJP govt. in the state. It will hinder all development activities in the state that can promote social equality. And more so, these protest will create an environment for the return of Omar Abdullah to power.
This is high time that we fight or the ordinary Kashmiri's rights. I have been there and they are lovely people. Sometimes you do get the sense that they are naive and can be easily manipulated by the richer sects of Kashmir but all together they are very lovely people.
These protests are a call for an immediate removal of article 370 in the state and blitzkrieg against every separatist leader and Pakistan sympathizer in the state. Under the garb of human rights and international support they manipulated and prospered a lot. Now is the time to put an end to all this drama.

Understanding Modi

December 15, 2019

There is a plan, an agenda, a surety, a belief, a confidence in your actions, the inspiration that makes the nation feel stimulated. Never before has one felt that for the central govt. in India. He makes the international leaders take note, hardly 4 months into governance and he has went knocking on all the doors of international leaders and some have returned the gesture when they came knocking to India. He is Mr. Modi, the leader, the teacher, the self proclaimed highest servant of the Indian democracy. Suddenly there is a new found respect for India, a new found self respect in being Indian. Political leaders, religious, spiritual, economic, xyz leaders are ensuring that the world knows they are connected to India.... some seek opportunities, some look for allies, some look for friends while some come looking for help and guidance. A country bestowed with natural resources, has the highest man force in the world, and yet we remain as poor as ever. Governance, its essence, its importance and the impact it has; one now realizes when one has begun experiencing this governance as true governance, as good governance; as governance that one can look up to; look up to a man, who has heart of Mandela, the force of Lincoln, the charm of Kennedy and inspiration of Gandhi. India has finally found her true Prime Minister in Narendra Modi.

Pink: A review

December 15, 2019

Pink is not just a movie, nor an epic courtroom drama nor does it stand to simply preach a lesson to the society. Pink is a movie that transcends through the generation gap, the gap between societies, the perceptions, the beliefs, customs, and every changing dynamics among these elements keeping the 'Indian Woman' at its center. Pink is a movie that tends to narrate a story about the changing needs of the modern Indian woman as she comes out behind he curtains of our traditions and wants to express herself and yet not be taken for granted. It's the need to understand her feminine space and the need to understand the thin line that makes a huge difference. It's that subtlety that is often ignored in our patriarchal Indian society that needs to be understood in this modern era.
Pink is a must watch. I would say, definitely for the men, but more for the women. Because it teaches the latter to set fire to the curtains behind which you hid for thousand of years. It's the need that you come out of the shadows of yester-years and teach the men of today what womanhood is, what is that thin line between chivalry and chauvinism, and the difference between protecting and controlling.
Pink will also be known for the epic performance of Amitabh Bacchan, who in his fragile age can still be so powerful on the screen and for the epic performance of Tapsee Pannu, Bollywood's new found love as she tells the Hindi film industry that she is here to stay.
Watch the movie for its sheer authenticity in terms of content, performance and walk out of the cinema with a memory.

PM Modi is truly a visionary politician. And when I say this, I don't mean to say he does not get his hands dirty; rather, he knows when to get his hands dirty and for what purpose. I think the greatest virtue does not lie in what is right or what is wrong. Rather, it lies in the purpose behind the action, whether that action is right or wrong is immaterial. And that is what makes Prime Minister Modi different. As soon as he came to power, the first thing he did was appoint Mr. Ajit Doval as the National Security Advisor. He knew that his term as the prime minister is not going to be easy and his biggest concern is going to be national security, especially cross border terrorism. He knew that the Congress would leave no stone unturned in making his life hell. And yet, he has waded through all the murky waters and come out not only unharmed, but also clean. He turned every aggression against him into his favor. For him every difficulty was like a tide, which he used as an opportunity to set sail. His losses were calculated. Bihar was going to be a no show, given the large ignorant mass of people who would sway to religion and caste. Therefore, the opposition uniting was an end game. Yet he managed to win a fair amount of seats. The short sighted Delhities whose biggest worry in life is the electricity and water bills were in any case going to elect Kejriwal. He successfully managed to contain him within Delhi, expose his real persona and what a hypocrite he is, and make him weak in the eyes of the people. The intolerance was a surprise for sure, which did harm him. Then the Mohan bhagwat case and that Hard-Dick Patel guy did create some furor which harmed him, but he managed to still tackle it and took a very anti party and anti RSS stand which took the opposition by surprise as well. Issues like reservation, intolerance, appeasing the majority Hindus, cow vigilantes, Dalit issue, they all can be said to be fairly a surprise attack on the PM. His stand did put off some of his fans, but at large, it did win many hearts. There can be no question raised that without the muslims, dalits and OBCs, the nationa can be taken forward and he can survive as a leader, the prime minister. Yet he needed to curb the social menaces prevailing in the society. He chose a longer goal. Muslims are not a problem to the country, as some Hindu radical groups try to paint them to be. Rather, there are certain radical elements within the muslim community who play into the hands of the politicians and the foreign powers who happen to get into anti India activities. Therefore, to curb radicalism within Islam, something more is required. Something that completes the bigger picture. Therefore, he started focussing on education and economic development of the backward masses, the two biggest deterrents against radicalism. He started to attack the social ills within the muslim community in India. The campaign against triple talaq and polygamy within the muslim community has already begun. These are the two elements that belittle the women in the muslim community. And in any community, if women remain a second class, or maybe even worse, that society cannot progress. Over all, what Modi is doing is something we have not seen after the liberalization of the India economy. He is a radicalist himself, albeit a good one: a force who stands against all evils that tends to harm the motherland, and trust me, he is going to come out to be a winner.

Communism and the left have always been hypocrites. I remember reading a line in one of the works of Ayn Rand, where she says, and I quote," Run from the person who asks you to sacrifice yourself economically for the well being of others." From animal activists to climate change activists, you see that common trend everywhere. But this time, they have crossed the height of hypocrisy. They, the communists, have always cried fowl against the rich who horde a lot of money and thus, because of which, the poor suffer. Now when an action has been taken, suddenly the government is wrong. They, the leftists, always cried fowl that the dowry system is a bigotry and promotes gender inequality. Sadly, now when the dowry seekers are affected by the curb on black money, they are criticizing the govt. The poor are suffering, no doubt. But tell me one thing, if the poor are really the poor, then do they really need more than two days to get in a line and change their currency notes. If yes, then the source of money needs to be questioned. If someone in India is not that marginalized, then can that person be called poor and is that person incapable of opening a bank account? Some are saying that they do not have money to eat, then go and bloody work, because in that case, you are supposed to not have money in the bank account. And if you have money in the bank account, then one withdrawal can at least feed you for ten days. Some are saying that they are not able to pay the tuition fees at school. Now, tell me what kind of a school it is that cannot accept cheques. And if that school cannot accept a cheque, then is the money collected by them legitimate? The property rates in some of the cities in India are amongst the highest in the world, ranking amongst the top 20 in some cases. Now, a country that ranks high in terms of hunger death and lack of supply of basic of needs to the citizens, how can that country have such high property rates? Gold consumption in a 3rd world country like India is the highest in the world. Clearly it cannot be only a cultural thing. The thing with these hypocrites is, they surround themselves with bigger hypocrites and pride themselves to be one belonging to a clan. Today, the leftist media is working even harder against Trump. Clearly they are offended because how could a country vote against the narrative they tried to feed them. Today, they have begun even a bigger character assassination of Trump. Once they advocated of an open society that is fare to LGBTQ, and today they feel offended by the naked pictures of the first lady. Trump maybe a jackass, but criticize his policies that may put America in danger, don't assassinate his character. That man never grew up to be a politician, and now he is suddenly the president of America. Talking of policies, what has Obama done except for ObamaCare which is clearly a sham. He did not take any definitive steps in his tenure.
Coming back to India, Narendra Modi is fast proving to be a decisive leader that one imagined him to be before he took office. I think he is one of the greatest political entrepreneurs the country will ever see, and if he is given another decade, he will prove himself better than most world leaders as well. I remember reading about Nelson Mandela and the kind of decisions he took, most of which never dwelled well with his peers. Never the less he moved again and proved them wrong. Today South Africa has become one of the best economies in the world. Narendra Modi is on that path, and soon we shall read about the legacy he will leave behind. The question is, will we Indians, basking and breeding in our ever glorified hypocrisy, allow him, our Prime Minister Modi, survive as a leader or throw him out with our myopic vision?

1) Salman gets 5 years for ' killing' a deer but manages to get away from being punished for running over a human being.
2) You have a 'Bharat Bandh' where people protest against Modi and blame him for the decision that the Supreme Court had taken.
3) The same Karni Sena that created a lot of ruckus against the movie Padmavati now takes a U turn to say that the movie glorifies the Rajputs and so everyone must watch it. Now the same thing was told to them earlier, that is, to watch the movie in a private screening and then decide whether the movie actually maligned the Rajputs. But no, they had to create a havoc, destroy properties, attack women and children, and then finally admit their mistake. I don't know if they can even call themselves Kshatriyas anymore.
4) We saw a huge protest for certain communities in Gujarat demanding reservation where people came in BMWs and Jaguar.
5) The deprived class of the Jats wanted reservations by looting vehicles, destroy properties and attacking people.
6) The banks gave loans to the financial fugitives many years back, but of course, it is the Modi govt. to blame.
7) We will cry about any incident on the border but simultaneously criticise the govt. for attacking the enemy through a surgical strike.
8) We don't want the reservation but want the caste system to exist and vice versa., ie, we want the reservation system to exist but not the caste system.
9) Educated professors in Kerala making claims about ' bad parents producing disabled children' and ' girls who wear jeans producing aliens or some shit' .
10) We want change but are not willing to change.
11) Women talk about feminism and change and empowerment of the weaker sex and yet, in the society, they are the first ones to comment on modern women, first ones to want a male child, and the first ones to demand dowry for their male children.
12) I last attended a book launch where the author, who was a forward caste, was writing about fighting for the rights of tribals. Incidentally, even the tribals who progress disassociate from their tribal roots and live like the forward castes. The system has benefitted so many tribals. Yet we are yet to see a movement by the tribals for the tribals where a tribal writes a book about creating a progressive road map for the tribals. Why is the ' the upliftment of the tribals' a business of the upper class.

Hindu: Am I?

December 15, 2019

This is the story of every Indian Hindu, I think, which I am trying to capture in my own words.

I am born in a Hindu. When I grew up, I saw my parents following the rituals of a Hindu. But no one told me I was a Hindu, just like no one told me, I was a homo sapien, a human being, a species which was supposed to be human. Being a Hindu was just understood as being a human being. The fact is, I was my caste first, and then a Hindu. I was a particular breed of Indian, whether northern, southern, eastern or western, before I was a Hindu. The case of my Muslim or my Christian friend was different. They realised earlier than me that they were Muslims or Christians. It is because they were a minority in this mammoth country of more than 1.5 billion people. They had to learn in fear. Already, they were ghettos in every city of their own choosing and creation which kept them safe from a Hindu. They had already learnt how to be a chameleon. They looked the same as Hindus, only internally, they had internalised their conditioning of the rules of being a minority as the majority that internalised their conditioning.

But as a Hindu, the fears of my minority friends was least of my concern as I could be superior than them because I was part of the 'majority.' But by virtue of that definition, every member of this majority would become superior to my minority friends. And so, how could I digest that? I would be equal to many, or should I say too many would be equal to me. So what was the fun of being a Hindu.
I had to be my caste. My caste is what separated me from the rest. My caste made me who I was, because that gave me a sense of community. Many villages were created on these very lines, and in other cases, parts of villages were cordoned off from the others based on caste.

Today I am an educated Hindu. And my likes have achieved distant goals in every field. I am educated, sophisticated and worldly wise. But my caste continues to linger on.
I am friends with people from foreign lands who eat and drink what my religion doesn't permit and live my life completely contradictory to mine. Yet, I love them, I am friends with them, I dine with and hell, I sleep with them. And yes, I will one of them too.
But I still find my fellow Hindus of my very own country threatening to me. Especially the ones from another caste. I still let the politicians divide my country based on caste. I continue to vote based on my caste and if I have to marry a Hindu, I will choose my caste before my religion. I have a problem with another Hindu who eats egg and if I don't. I have a problem with another Hindu who recites a different prayer than mine before a meal. And most definitely, I have a problem with another Hindu whose skin colour is different from mine.
I became a world citizen today, but becoming an Indian is still a distant dream from me, and worse still: I will never become a Hindu, because my caste come before my religion.
